Ada Oda

Nati nel sottobosco musicale di Bruxelles alla fine del 2021, gli Ada Oda offrono un rock up-tempo, binario, che richiama l’audacia del post-punk degli anni ’80 e il fascino melodico del pop italiano. Il progetto è stato avviato nel 2020 da César Laloux (The Tellers, BRNS), che ha conosciuto Victoria Barracato su Tinder e, notando l’origine italiana del suo nome, le ha proposto di cantare le sue canzoni in italiano. Victoria ha accettato la sfida.

“Un Amore Debole”, il primo album della band (novembre 2022, 62TV/PIAS), raccoglie dieci brani pop costruiti su demo volutamente essenziali (drum machine, chitarra e melodia). In questo album, César descrive, a volte con un tocco di ironia, la sua visione dell’amore e delle persone che lo circondano. I suoi testi vengono prima tradotti in italiano e poi adattati da Victoria. L’album ha fatto un debutto impressionante, e alcuni brani come “Un Amore Debole” o “Niente da Offrire” sono diventati piccoli successi in Europa, specialmente in Italia!

Sul palco, il duo è affiancato da Clément Marion al basso (David Numwami, Judith Kiddo), Alex De Bueger (Gros Coeur) e Aurélien Gainetdinoff (Yolande Bashing) alla chitarra. La band ha tenuto oltre 200 concerti in una ventina di paesi. Con una reputazione consolidata per le loro performance dal vivo straordinarie, gli Ada Oda si sono esibiti nei principali festival europei come Rock en Seine, Best Kept Secret, Pukkelpop, MI AMI, ESNS, e persino al prestigioso SXSW ad Austin nel 2024, segnando la loro prima volta fuori dall’Europa.

Il gruppo torna ora con il loro secondo LP, in uscita il 21 febbraio 2025. Il primo singolo, intitolato “Sotto La Conchiglia”, sarà disponibile il 16 ottobre 2024.

Discovered on the Brussels scene at the end of 2021, Ada Oda delivers an up-tempo, binary rock that evokes the boldness of 1980s post-punk and the melodic charm of Italian pop. The project was initiated in 2020 by César Laloux (The Tellers, BRNS), who met Victoria Barracato on Tinder and, noticing the Italian nature of her name, suggested she sing his songs in Italian. Victoria accepted the challenge.

“Un Amore Debole” the band’s first album (Nov. 2022, 62TV/PIAS), brings together ten pop songs built from deliberately sparse demos (drum machine, guitar, and melody). In this album, César describes, sometimes with a touch of irony, his vision of love and the people around him. His lyrics are first translated into Italian and then adapted by Victoria. The album made an impressive debut, and some tracks like “Un Amore Debole” or “Niente da Offrire” became little hits across Europe, especially in Italy!

On stage, the duo is joined by Clément Marion on bass (David Numwami, Judith Kiddo), Alex De Bueger (Gros Coeur), and Aurélien Gainetdinoff (Yolande Bashing) on guitar. The band has performed over 200 concerts in around twenty countries. With a reputation for delivering outstanding live performances, Ada Oda has played at major European festivals such as Rock en Seine, Best Kept Secret, Pukkelpop, MI AMI, ESNS, and even the prestigious SXSW in Austin in 2024, marking their first time outside Europe.

The group now returns with their second LP, set for release on February 21, 2025. The first single, titled “Sotto La Conchiglia” (trans. “Under the Shell”), will be available on October 16, 2024.

Atterri fin 2021 sur la scène bruxelloise, Ada Oda balance un rock binaire up-tempo qui évoque l’aplomb post-punk des années 80 et les envolées mélodiques dont la variété italienne a le secret.
Le projet a été initié en 2020 par César Laloux (The Tellers, BRNS) qui rencontre Victoria Barracato sur Tinder et propose, vu la consonance de son nom, de chanter sur ses morceaux en italien. Victoria relève le défi.

“Un Amore Debole”, le premier album du groupe (nov. 2022 62TV/PIAS) rassemble une dizaine de chansons pop construites à partir de maquettes au dépouillement assumé (boîte à rythmes, guitare et mélodie). César y décrit, parfois avec une pointe d’ironie, sa vision de l’amour et des gens qui l’entourent. Ses textes sont d’abord traduits en italien et ensuite adaptés par Victoria.
Le disque crée l’événement et certains titres comme «Un Amore Debole» ou «Niente da Offrire» deviendront de véritables petits hits un peu partout en Europe mais surtout en Italie (!)

Sur scène, le duo s’entoure de Clément Marion à la basse (David Numwami, Judith Kiddo), Alex De Bueger (Gros Coeur) et Aurélien Gainetdinoff (Yolande Bashing) à la guitare. Le groupe compte à son actif plus de 200 concerts dans une vingtaine de pays. Désormais affublé d’une excellente réputation scénique, Ada Oda s’est produit lors des plus gros festivals européens comme Rock en Seine, Best Kept Secret, Pukkelpop, MI AMI, ESNS, ou au très prestigieux SXSW d’Austin 2024 quittant l’Europe pour la première fois.

Le groupe revient maintenant avec son deuxième LP prévu pour le 21 février 2025. Un premier extrait intitulé “Sotto La Conchiglia” (trad. “Sous la coquille”) sera disponible dès le 16 octobre 2024.
