Festa del Perdono

Francesco Goats, Giacomo Porta D’Oro e Stiopa, ovvero 3/4 del gruppo punk Kobra ritrovatisi senza batterista iniziano a provare non più in sala prove ma nel soggiorno di Giacomo, con una batteria elettronica e un synth. Da quei pomeriggi di gioco nascono le prime cinque canzoni che andranno a formare l’EP Società Mentale.

Il suono dei Festa del Perdono affonda inevitabilmente le radici nel background punk più che decennale dei membri, hanno militato in Spirito di Lupo, Kalashnikov Collettive, Mirrorism, Cerimonia Secreta, Anno Omega e molti altri e sono i fondatori del collettivo/etichetta Sentiero Futuro Autoproduzioni.

L’immaginario e i testi della band invece si allontanano dal nichilismo tipico del punk per approdare a un personalissimo misticismo anarchico. I cicli cosmici, gli spiriti guida, le profezie millenarie, i poteri medianici, gli angeli, le società segrete sono le tematiche trattate negli evocativi testi. Il gruppo può anche essere inteso come un progetto filosofico, un tentativo di allargare il campo del possibile con lo scopo di creare una nuova generazione di profeti perpetuato attraverso l’unico linguaggio ormai possibile: quello dell’ arte, in questo caso attraverso il medium della canzone pop.

In questi primi pezzi si può ancora sentire fortemente l’influenza del punk italiano di gruppi come Stigmathe, Wretched, e Contropotere ma shakerato con le atmosfere sognanti del pop mistico di Franco Battiato degli anni 80.

L’assalto al pop di questi punk rockers ha un messaggio chiaro: la scoperta del vero Se, l’allargamento dei confini psichici, lo sfociamento della dimensione sogno nella realtà sono gli strumenti di liberazione di cui abbiamo bisogno in questi tempi bui. Lasciatevi traghettare del suono catchy di queste canzoni alla scoperta di una nuova dimensione.

Francesco Goats, Giacomo Porta D’Oro and Stiopa, i.e. 3/4 of the punk band Kobra found themselves without a drummer begin to rehearse no longer in the rehearsal room but in Giacomo’s living room, with an electronic drum kit and a synth. From those playful afternoons come the first 5 songs that will form the EP Società Mentale.

The sound of Festa del Perdono is inevitably rooted in the members’ more than decade-long punk background; they have played in Spirito di Lupo, Kalashnikov Collettive, Mirrorism, Cerimonia Secreta, Anno Omega and many others and are the founders of the collective/label Sentiero Futuro Autoproduzioni.

The band’s imagery and lyrics, on the other hand, move away from the typical nihilism of punk to a very personal anarchic mysticism. Cosmic cycles, spirit guides, millenary prophecies, mediumistic powers, angels, and secret societies are the themes dealt with in the evocative lyrics. The group can also be understood as a philosophical project, an attempt to broaden the field of the possible with the aim of creating a new generation of prophets perpetuated through the only language now possible: that of ‘art, in this case through the medium of pop song.

In these early songs one can still strongly hear the influence of the Italian punk of bands like Stigmathe, Wretched, and Contropotere but shaken with the dreamy atmospheres of Franco Battiato’s mystical pop of the 1980s.

The assault on pop by these punk rockers has a clear message: the discovery of the true Self, the widening of psychic boundaries, and the blurring of the dream dimension into reality are the tools of liberation we need in these dark times.
