Grimoon

I Grimoon sono nati nel 2004 e hanno da sempre abbinato immagini alla loro musica. Il loro fortunato Ep Demoduff, uscito nel 2004 per Macaco Records li ha portati ad esibirsi subito in tutta Europa, fino al Sziget Festival di Budapest.

Hanno successivamente registrato cinque album: La lanterne magique (2006), Les 7 vies du chat (2008), Super 8 (2010), Le deserteur (april 2012), Vers La lune (2016) collaborando con produttori quali Giovanni Ferrario (Scisma, PJ Harvey, John Parish) e Pall Jenkins (The Black Heart Procession).

La maggior parte dei loro concerti sono stati fatti all’estero piuttosto che in Italia, con oltre dieci tour in Germania e presenze fino a Londra e negli Stati Uniti. Hanno inoltre sempre realizzato un cortometraggio per ogni canzone, dando quindi vita ad una quarantina di corti e si sono inoltre avvicinati al lungometraggio realizzando i film La lanterne magique (2006) e Neera (2010) e il film in animazione stop-motion Vers la lune del 2016.

Dopo anni di video realizzati per i Grimoon, i due cantanti della band, Solenn e Alberto hanno anche dato vita allo studio di cinema di animazione FrameByFrame che ha realizzato videoclip per artisti indipendenti e spot televisivi. Da segnalare tra gli altri il video Negazioni che si negano di Cabeki, vincitore di diversi premi in Italia, tra cui migliore videoclip musicale al My Generation Festival 2013.

I membri della band sono mutati nel tempo. La formazione originale nasceva piu folk, con violino e fisarmonica che negli anni sono stati “sostituiti” da chitarra elettrica e synth per un suono piu incisivo, rock e psichedelico. Della formazione originale sono rimasti Solenn Le Marchand (voce, synth), Alberto Stevanato (voce, chitarra acustica) e Alberto De Grandis (chitarra) ai quali si sono aggiunti Marco Centasso (basso, mellotron), e Niccolò Romanin (batteria).

I Grimoon ritornano nel 2023 con un nuovo album Clair obscure per l’etichetta La Tempesta Dischi, seguito dalle immagini del film in animazione Il viaggio di Alan che tratta il tema della migrazione. Il nuovo progetto sostiene le azioni di salvataggio in mare dell’ONG Mediterranea.

Grimoon formed in 2004 and have always combined images with their music.

Their successful EP “Demoduff,” released in 2004 by Macaco Records, led them to perform immediately all over Europe, all the way to the Sziget Festival in Budapest.

They subsequently recorded five albums: La lanterne magique (2006), Les 7vies du chat (2008), Super 8 (2010), Le deserteur (april 2012), Vers La lune (2016) collaborating with producers such as John Ferrario (Scisma, PJ Harvey, John Parish) and Pall Jenkins (The Black Heart Procession).

Most of their concerts have been performed abroad rather than in Italy, with over ten tours in Germany and performances as far away as in London and the United States.

They have also always made a short film for each song, resulting in the production of some 40 shorts. They have also approached feature films making the films La lanterne magique (2006) and Neera (2010) and the 2016 stop-motion animation film Vers la lune.

After years of making videos for Grimoon, the band’s two singers, Solenn and Alberto also started the animation film studio “FrameByFrame” which has made video clips for independent artists and TV commercials.

Noteworthy among others is the video Negations that Deny Themselves by Cabeki, winner of several awards in Italy, including best music video clip at the 2013 MyGenerationFestival.

The band members have changed over time. The original lineup was more folk, with the violin and the accordion that over the years have been “replaced” by the electric guitar and the synth for a more punchy, rock and psychedelic sound.

Solenn Le Marchand (vocals, synth), Alberto Stevanato (vocals, acoustic guitar), and Alberto De Grandis (guitar) remained from the original lineup. They have been joined by Marco Centasso (electric bass, mellotron), and Niccolò Romanin (drums).

Grimoon returns in 2023 with a new album Clair obscure for the label La Tempesta Records, followed by images from the animated film Alan’s Journey which deals with the topic of migration. The new project supports the actions of rescue at sea by the NGO Mediterranea.
